Members

The international, interdisciplinary research team of “After Oil” brings together leading researchers and research creators in the energy humanities. All of the team members have significant previous research experience working on issues related to energy, culture and society. Our team includes research chairs, institute directors, administrative leaders, internationally recognized researchers, award-winning artists, writers and filmmakers, and celebrated architects, and includes both junior and senior researchers.

The team for “After Oil” has a strong base in Alberta, the province that has come to be identified with energy in Canada. We also have scholars based in other energy rich sites in Canada—Newfoundland and Quebec. What links the diverse research foci of the teams members is their common understanding of the significance of knowledge systems and representation in how we understand and engage with energy (or don’t engage, as the case may be). One of key activities of the team during the early stages of the project (2016-2017) will be to collectively determine how groups of team members might engage in joint research projects that will enable each researcher to re-imagine or re-define their own projects, while sharing knowledge with one another to pursue genuinely new areas or topics of analysis within the research framework established by “After Oil”.
